Welcome to the world of Gothic Horror, Film Noir etc.
I worked for the BBC Film Studios in Ealing, Lime Grove and Television Centre through 1969 and the 1970s, 'the good old days' - power cuts/blackouts, candles, three day week for some and of course Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Some uploads are my original creations, some are Public Domain Movies - the 'ΣΒΤ' brand mark in the top left corner means I have done work on a public domain print by editing or adding the soundtrack, or editing the visuals; these are shared for the purposes of critical comment, discussion and education. Comedy Movie - Its A Joke Son (1947)
Hilarious and a totally unexpected twist. Didn't expect it to be the man who was thought the most innocent and who seemed totally unconnected. Brilliant!
Loved this♥️!!! I feel for our, head character, but it's his fault, to begin with. Listen to the term, @0:18:44. It has a 'hole' different meaning, in today's political stage (sorry I had to throw politics in there, but it was relevant). And our humorous chauffeur, Mike. He almost breaks, 'the 4th. wall' scenario, right @0:23:59.
I just want to know more about the matching pictures framing the door of the living area. Are they partially censored or what? It's at about 18:22 the curiosity is driving me round the bend. Anyone know anything or watching on a larger screen...or just has better vision because mine is awful
Black n white films are great films to watch, no special effects all natural
Historically accurate?..(lots of german scientist's, and an ardent feminist.).
What is all that NOISE?
It was actually Perry Mason who solved the case. He went undercover by disguising himself as the wardress (see at 1:20:28) to get evidence by spying on the wife.
Useless police department. 22 years before I was born. My father would have been just 17, mother only 7!. Sadly no longer with us.
An enjoyable "B" mystery film. The best scene is near the end,.The expression on Bridges' face as he recognizes the man's face whose handing the magazine to him, that's acting. I was only 9 years old in 1953 and missed seeing this film. Thanks for posting the video.
An enjoyable "B" mystery film. The best scene was the near ending, where Bridges awakens and receives his magazine back, That second or two where his face was framed as he realized he's there, in his seat. after recognizing man's face who hands the magazine to him. That's first class acting. I never knew of this film, as i was only 9 yrs old in 1953, but already a film buff. Thanks for posting this video.
Charles Russel as Harold Dunlap = a very strange creepy man 😮
NO
That could not have been any worse😢
Ian Wilson as Hitchcock, the butler
I love these old movies where everything isn't sexualized and gaudy. "Motorcar?! You must a rich man!" 😂 Oh how it must've been. I'd honestly prefer to be a housewife dedicated to serving my husband and raising children than the world we live in now. I said what I said.
Goofy and good fun! Thanks for sharing this lark of a mystery.
I like short movies. Like this one. With a twist at the end? Even better.
“It’s better than looking for a candidate before an election”, the secretary has the best lines. lol
Love watching this for the second time 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing ❤
He saved the horses 💚💚c Great cars and beautiful club they danced in ...want those night spots back!!!
Was really good ..smart doggie!! Humor face relief of some violent parts ...I loved the little dog ..his buddy in Forrest Lookout ..! Unusual part for Regis Tomey playing mean ....
I love movies like this ..the Men are MEN TOO
What a regular " boss ..gets socked on chin .no.. Police no big deal.....sees his employee was right to save horses.!!!..gives him promotion ba month later ..why,?? Bc they are Both from THE GREAT EST GENERATION 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I can watch vintage movies over and over.. my wife often says to me “how many times have you seen this movie?” .. I always reply, who’s counting.. One not do old movie I watched yesterday here in June 2024 on TV..l reminding my wife that we first saw this movie as the test audience in Pittsburgh. we were just a couple of kids, my wife said she had never dated an older man. She was 18, I was 22. No one knew what the movie was about, there were no posters, no reviews, nothing, it was advertised in the paper that you could watch the great Waldo Pepper at the Fulton or the Stanley theater in Pittsburgh downtown tonight at eight, but you will be a preview audience for another movie first.. my wife and I were on a date.. we just had gnocchi’s at Dells restaurant in Bloomfield, and we went downtown to watch the great Waldo Pepper movie with Robert Redford, but first- an additional movie that we would be the test audience first time viewers .. The first movie started without any music or credits. It just started into the nighttime bonfire beach scene when the young woman and the young man paired off and she went into the ocean, but he did not. there was an older man sitting in the seat, directly in front of me. I think he was there to see the great Waldo Pepper movie, which was about radial engine airplanes, and the birth of aviation… they should have screened or warned people about this movie. We were the test audience for. Because that man in front of me was standing up out of his chair at times in suspense during that first movie. That first movie was jaws. to this day, 49 years later. That was the most entertaining trip to a theater ever for both me and my wife. that night, when Jaws was over. And the second movie, the great Waldo Pepper was about to start. The entire theater emptied. No one was left in the theater after seeing Jaws.. when I watched Jaws last week here in June 2024, it hit me that we first saw that movie 49 years ago in 1975. when people remark about age or time, or some thing in the distant future that they think that they will never arrive. I always tell them “don’t blink.”
1:16 -- Was there ever actually a train that went from NYC to Montreal via Albany-Syracuse-Watertown? This would have been WAY out of the way, especially since there's a direct route north from Albany to Montreal!
WONDERFUL & CREATIVE!! Thank You!!!!
Barking mad the lot of them
"Cigarette? It's good for the nerves." 😃
I've watched this before, and did remember who the killer was, but it was a pleasure to watch it again - so well done ... so much better than modern day gore Fests.
PS - note the clothes: wonderful tailoring, suits perfectly cut, dresses too.... if only we had tailors who could do this now (for less than the cost of a mansion...).
At least he like them young...like 20 years younger....
Still my favorite Hammer movie, the picture quality is incredible, great story, sets, acting...Ed de Souza is still with us at the age of 91.
👍, thank you.
"And may the saints sprinkle you with sailors on shore leave. "
"I was always curious why you sleep in your evening clothes?" "Really? I was buried in them " 😅
The actor who plays Dr. Morley was the actor who dated Mother Jefferson on the TV show 'The Jeffersons.'
Hollywood can't make this good of a movie today!
When German jews saw the writing on the wall, they fled to Hollywood, ergo: cinematic excellence. Of course first they had to Anglasize their names.😅
Where was the other vehicle hidden and the tracks. Good movie though, love those oldies.
Always good to see Gahagan! (Tom Kennedy, the officer and the Embassy appartments)
Dr. Ross dog food is dog gone good!
Assualt with a deadly weapon? Was attempted murder not a charge back then? How bout Manslaughter (if the bird croaked)?
Imagine a loan shark breaking your legs over $28.
This is classic noir, with all the elements. Very entertaining!
I like this movie besides that Brian donlevy was a very handsome masculine man I thought he was a great actor❤
Spend time watching police cam videos and you will think THE WHOLE WORLD HAS GONE BERSERK!😄
Dragnet Mark one
Almost expected Charlie Chan And his number one son
Great movie Thanks for posting
The beginning of this this film - the office scene with the disconnected phone was alledgedly copied from a film entitles Where There's A Will starring Will Hay made in 1936
Reminds me of when i was a kid back in the 1960s Watching late night horror movies until 2am , then the tv networks shut off until next morning at around 5am ,if it was a Saturday you were up by 7am to watch cartoons till 1pm then all kinds of black and white movies 😊
Aways ready to watch a movie with Ginger Rogers. Too bad the sound track was so bad.
Nothing to dislike here.
